Lincoln Square Weekend Update | October 23, 2026

NKC WEEKEND UPDATE · SEASON 18 · OCTOBER 23, 2026

Joshua Novy at the NKC Weekend Update desk with the Chicago skyline

Live from Chicago, it’s Friday! And this is your NKC Weekend Update.

This weekend’s neighborhood plans include pumpkins, costumes and a little shopping. If a home tour is also on your list, bring the must-haves along. A good-looking room is a strong opening act; the way you’d actually live there deserves the rest of the conversation.

Lincoln Square homes for sale: the current lineup

As of 9:46 a.m. Chicago time on October 23, Lincoln Square had 29 publicly available homes for sale in MRED Area 8004.

Home typeAvailableAsking prices
Single-family homes6$590,000–$3,950,000
Condos / attached homes22$125,000–$1,175,000
Two-to-four-unit buildings1$849,000

These are asking prices, not closed-sale values. The available inventory spans very different home types, sizes and monthly costs.

A smaller available lineup than last Friday

Last Friday’s same-area snapshot counted 36 available sale listings; this morning’s count is 29. That is seven fewer available listings at the two snapshot times. It does not mean seven homes sold: contracts, withdrawals, new listings and other status changes can all affect the count. For your own search, the useful question is how many current options actually fit your budget and priorities.

Joshua’s take: don’t let the wallpaper negotiate

It’s easy to remember the kitchen you loved and forget the desk that wouldn’t fit anywhere. After each tour, write down three things: what works, what you would have to compromise on, and what still needs an answer.

For a condo, compare the full monthly cost, what the assessment covers, parking and laundry arrangements, and the building questions that need follow-up. Then return to your original priorities. A place can be fun to tour and still be the wrong fit for your everyday life.

My favorite question after a showing: “What would a normal Tuesday look like here?” That usually tells us more than “Did you love it?”

Lincoln Square rentals

A separate rental search found 46 publicly available listings, with advertised monthly asking rents from $1,400 to $7,332. Rentals are not included in the sale totals. Check lease dates, fees, pet rules, parking and laundry along with the advertised rent.
